Ontario income tax example
For 2026, an Ontario resident with $100,000 of taxable income would have an estimated $6,284 in provincial tax, $93 in Ontario surtax, a $750 Ontario Health Premium and $14,393 in federal tax. The estimated total income tax is $21,520, leaving $78,480 after income tax.
This example excludes CPP contributions, EI premiums and other deductions or credits.
Ontario tax brackets and rates 2026
For 2026, Ontario’s personal income tax brackets and provincial basic personal amount were indexed by 1.9%. The provincial basic personal amount is $12,989. Income above each threshold is taxed progressively at the applicable rate.

For 2026, Ontario’s surtax thresholds were indexed by 1.9%. The surtax is calculated on basic Ontario income tax payable, not directly on taxable income.

Ontario Health Premium 2026
The Ontario Health Premium is based on taxable income and is added to Ontario income tax. The calculator displays it separately from provincial tax and surtax.

For 2026, the federal income tax brackets were indexed by 2%, and the lowest federal tax rate is 14%.
The maximum federal basic personal amount for 2026 is $16,452. The amount available may be lower for people with higher net income.

What income should I enter?
Enter your taxable income—the amount remaining after applicable deductions. It is generally reported on line 26000 of a Canadian income tax return.
Does the calculator include CPP and EI?
No. It estimates federal and Ontario income tax, Ontario surtax and the Ontario Health Premium. CPP contributions, EI premiums and other payroll deductions are not included.
What is the Ontario Health Premium?
The Ontario Health Premium is an additional amount based on taxable income. It ranges from $0 to a maximum of $900 and is displayed separately in the calculator results.
Is all my income taxed at the same rate?
No. Canada and Ontario use progressive tax brackets. Only the portion of income within each bracket is taxed at that bracket’s rate.
Can I calculate Ontario income tax for earlier years?
Yes. Select a tax year from 2012 to 2026 using the calculator’s tax-year menu.
