Use this Canadian income tax calculator to estimate your federal and provincial or territorial income tax. Select your province or territory, choose the tax year, and enter your taxable income to see your estimated total income tax and income after tax.
This calculator estimates federal and provincial or territorial income tax only. It does not include CPP or QPP contributions, EI or QPIP premiums, or every deduction, benefit and tax credit. The “after-tax income” result is therefore not the same as take-home pay.
2026 tax data sources
Tax rates and brackets were verified using the Canada Revenue Agency’s 2026 income tax rates and Revenu Québec’s income tax rates.
British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador’s updated 2026 amounts were verified using the CRA’s July 2026 tax formulas.

How to use the income tax calculator
- Select your province or territory of residence.
- Choose the tax year.
- Enter your taxable income before income tax.
The calculator displays estimated federal tax, provincial or territorial tax, total income tax, and income remaining after those estimated taxes.
What income should I enter?
Enter your taxable income for the selected tax year. Taxable income is the amount remaining after applicable income deductions and may be different from your salary or total income.
If you are making an early estimate and do not yet know your taxable income, use your expected annual income as an approximation. Your final tax return may produce a different result.

How the income tax estimate is calculated
Canada uses progressive income tax brackets. Each tax rate applies only to the portion of taxable income within that bracket—not to your entire income.
The calculator estimates federal and provincial or territorial income tax separately:
Estimated total income tax = federal income tax + provincial or territorial income tax
Income after estimated tax = taxable income − estimated total income tax
Example: British Columbia, 2026
For taxable income of $100,000 in British Columbia, the calculator estimates:
- Federal income tax: $14,393
- British Columbia income tax: $5,902
- Total estimated income tax: $20,295
- Income after estimated income tax: $79,705
Results are rounded to the nearest dollar and do not represent complete payroll or tax-return calculations.
Frequently asked questions
Which province or territory should I select?
For an annual estimate, generally select the province or territory where you will be resident on December 31 of the selected tax year.
Does the calculator include both federal and provincial tax?
Yes. It estimates federal income tax and the applicable provincial or territorial income tax separately, then combines them.
Does the result include CPP, QPP, EI or QPIP?
No. These contributions and premiums are not included, so the result should not be treated as an exact take-home-pay calculation.
Will this equal the amount on my tax return?
Not necessarily. Your final tax depends on deductions, credits, benefits, income types and personal circumstances that this simplified calculator does not collect.
Calculator scope: This is an estimate based on taxable income and published federal and provincial or territorial brackets. It does not calculate exact take-home pay and generally excludes CPP/QPP, EI/QPIP, most deductions and credits, benefits, employment-income adjustments, and individual filing circumstances. Ontario’s health premium is shown separately where applicable. Results are not an official CRA or Revenu Québec assessment.
